Shimano’s Flagship Offshore Pliers
Pre-order now|Scheduled for release in March 2026
In offshore fishing, pliers are an essential tool for safety and efficiency—
from split ring replacement and hook changes to removing hooks from powerful fish at the boat side.
The OCEA Limited Pliers are Shimano’s flagship offshore pliers,
engineered specifically for demanding offshore environments and big-game fishing.
Manufactured in the same facility as Shimano reels using full machine-cut processing,
these pliers deliver exceptional precision, durability, and refined functionality that conventional press-formed tools cannot achieve.
Key Features ⚙️
■ Double Ring Opener
Two dedicated ring openers are positioned for different sizes of split rings:
-
Tip ring opener: Compatible with #3–8 split rings
-
Center ring opener: Designed for large split rings #9–11H
The newly developed forked design reduces contact area, allowing smooth insertion and opening even with reinforced power rings and flat-type split rings commonly used for large tuna and GT fishing.

■ Power Booster Mechanism 💪
A specially designed cam structure multiplies input force from the handle:
-
Approx. 4× power at the tip ring opener
-
Approx. 6× power at the center ring opener
This mechanism also enables precise control of the opening stroke, allowing large split rings to be opened smoothly with minimal effort.
Output values are calculated based on an input force of “1” at the handle.

■ New Anti-Corrosion Concept: RUST RESIST
Rather than relying solely on surface coatings, Shimano pursued corrosion resistance at the material level.
The RUST RESIST concept meets the same corrosion resistance standards as Shimano reels,
making these pliers suitable for high-salinity environments, tropical regions, and overseas expeditions.

■ Reinforced Tip Rigidity
Thanks to the Power Booster dual-axis structure, torsional rigidity is significantly improved compared to conventional single-axis pliers.
This allows secure gripping of #7/0-class heavy-gauge hooks without flex or loss of control.

■ Absolute Line Cutter ✂️
A specially designed cutter structure prevents the line from slipping out, enabling reliable cutting even without visual confirmation.
Capable of cleanly cutting:
-
PE braided lines
-
ZYLON® fiber, known for its extreme cut resistance

■ Barbless Hole
A dedicated barbless hole aligned with the hook shaft allows clean and controlled barb crushing.
Even #7/0-class heavy hooks can be processed easily, supporting safe and efficient catch & release practices.
Tip: Lightly flatten the barb before insertion for smoother operation.

■ Ergonomic Handle Design
The fully machine-cut handle features smooth contours combined with internal spring friction, creating a natural, secure fit in the hand.
This design reflects Shimano’s consistent philosophy across its premium tool lineup:
comfort, control, and fatigue reduction.

Additional Features
-
Handle stopper for compact storage when not in use
-
Lanyard hole to prevent accidental drops overboard

Full after-sales support, including parts replacement and overhaul services
