Action Concept – Recreating the “Yo-Yo” Movement

The most important focus in the development of the REAL JERKER was the ability to reproduce a yo-yo–style jig movement.

By moving the jig up and down like a yo-yo, anglers were able to successfully trigger bites from pressured, cautious, and previously unresponsive big fish—fish that would not react to conventional jig actions.

Through extensive field testing, this yo-yo style action proved to be a key element in catching fish that had been difficult to hook in the past.
This concept forms the core identity of the REAL JERKER.

Product Information & Release Schedule

The REAL JERKER has been considered for production multiple times in the past.
After a long development period, it has finally been decided that the first model, PREJ-508-2, will be released in Summer 2026.

This release represents the culmination of years of development and testing.

With the REAL JERKER, anglers can experience both the theoretical design concepts and the actual rod handling with a jig attached through real fishing.

SPJ Laboratories Program

At SPJ Laboratories, we plan to offer purchasers of the REAL JERKER the opportunity to participate in small-group, on-the-water instruction sessions led directly by Mr. Sato, the rod’s designer.

During these sessions, anglers will be able to learn:

  • The design intent behind the REAL JERKER

  • How and why specific rod movements create the yo-yo action

  • How to maximize performance based on real fishing conditions

Learning directly from the creator, while actually fishing, is the best way to understand what this rod was truly designed to do.
